"The short, simple, repetitive sentences and storyline are supported and illustrated by colorful and clear photographs of the animals (elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, hippos) seen on a safari in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dion Graham interprets the role of safari guide perfectly; his rich, clear, melodic narration combined with background animal vocalizations and related sounds add a feeling of location. The high-quality production, theme, and use of repeated pattern sounds will make this audiobook useful for teachers of pre-readers and popular with students who will quickly memorize and recite text like "I see elephants spray just for me. I see elephants spray on safari." Teachers could follow up with related educational activities such as naming other animals one might encounter while on safari in Tanzania, taking a Google Earth virtual trip to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and introducing a few additional simple words in Swahili. VERDICT Recommended for classroom and elementary libraries."

" "Hello! Jambo!" Dion Graham's big, friendly voice brings great enthusiasm to a child's visit to the African savannah. What animals will pass by? What will each animal be doing? From elephants to hippos to lions, the animals involve themselves in activities ranging from spraying to eating and grazing. The simple text and patterned responses to the story's questions will encourage listeners' participation--"reading," if you will. Graham's clear voice and leisurely pace contribute to the child friendliness of this production, as do the gentle music and animal sounds. Poring over the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC photographs will further enrich the safari experience."
