Live Oak Media has an over 25 year tradition of producing
readalong recordings of classic and award-winning children's literature
for the school and library market. Since we've
acquired Live Oak Media, we have been dedicated to taking these recordings
to another level. We have established new genres, like the Live Oak Mysteries (audiobooks for ages 8-12) and Readalongs for Beginning Readers (for ages 5-8). And we've launched a cool and innovative imprint,
Live Oak Music Makers, that features recordings of picture books that have
strong musical components and which weave together the words,
the art and the music to create an altogether new and meaningful
reading and listening experience.
We’re working hard to help educators understand
that a readalong is not just another audiobook. And that our readalongs
are distinctive because of the process that goes into creating a recording
of a picture book or beginning reader. Words and text in picture books
or early readers are picture dependent, and our readalongs are produced
to be listened to with the book. They are designed to be both educational
and entertaining. Each book is carefully selected from the many wonderful
titles that are released each year; then, the book is essentially “cast”
as a production. Once the appropriate “voice” has been selected,
our producer and engineer spend hours editing, adding appropriate sound
effects, and the perfect musical accompaniments. The final outcome is
much more than just a word-for-word recording. Very often, it’s
a Notable Recording, an Audie Award winner, or a Grammy® Award winner
(we now have three!)
While we’re very proud of the hard
work and care that go into our productions, we are equally
committed to our customer care. As a small, family-owned company
we are dedicated to quality customer service. It’s very
important to us that when you call us, you speak to a person
not a machine, and that your concerns will be handled with
ease and great care. So give us a call. We love to listen!
